HAIR TRANSPLANT POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS
DO NOT TAKE OR USE:
– aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve or any medications containing these
– alcohol, green tea, vitamins (vitamin E in particular), steroids or smoking
– cortisone creams, lotions/potions/creams containing green tea, jasmine tea or spices.
WHAT TO DO:
-Use an airplane pillow to keep you from rolling over and pulling out our new hair grafts today !
-OUR new hair mustn’t touch the pillows! And you can make your own airplane type pillow with a hand towel.
-Start your antibiotics when you get home.
– Take it 2 times in a day, in the morning – in the evening for 7 days. (Take it regularly)
-Start taking Dekort ( Dexamethasone ) the day after operation. ( It heals swelling)
-Take it 3 times the first 2 days. – 2 times on 3rd and 4th day – 1 time on 5th and 6th day. ( You don’t need to take the rest of the pills)
Apply Rifamisin Solution Ampoule to transplanted area for once for 2 days. ( It prevents getting infection)
– Break the head of the ampoule. – Draw the medicine into the syringe. – Drip the medicine to the transplanted area slowly.
HOW TO WASH:
Wash your head after 3 days.
1. Use a scissors to cut the bandage. Remove it carefully. If the bandage is stuck to your head, pour water to soften.
2. Cover transplanted area with Panthenol spray and leave in this state for 15-30 minutes. This causes a softening effect on scabs around the transplanted grafts and donor area. This softening phase helps to remove traces of dried blood and heal faster. After 15-30 minutes, thescalp should be washed with warm water but not powerful.
Donor and transplanted area is washed with shampoo. To do this, lather a little quantity of shampoo between your hands and very carefullyapply to the entire scalp.
Do not rub. All washing stages should be performed softly using palms, with no pressure.
3. Shampooing should be done daily to remove the scabs. After about 7-10 days there should be no more traces of dried blood or scabs on your scalp.
You may start washing your hair the normal way no sooner than 14 days after the transplant.
If needed one can also wash the hair more than once a day after the operation.
Swelling can affect the forehead and the area around the eyes and may last two to five days, being maximal on the fourth day. A drug called Dexamethasone is
given to reduce these symptoms.
Usually, shock loss starts within the first 3-4 weeks after the transplant. After 3rd to 5th month the lost grafts slowly start to re-grow. At the end of 5th month,
re-growth rate should be around 40% and within 7th month re-growth rate should be around 70%. The end results of the operation should be evaluated 12 months
post-op.
